Elizabeth Hasselbeck shares her gay-supportive view

Elisabeth Hasselbeck

”I am not ultra-ultra-conservative on every issue. I actually support gay marriage…. I think the gay marriage thing would definitely surprise people. I mean, for some people, it will surprise them to the point that they won’t want to hear it. ‘No, that can’t be, I really want to have this sort of idea of her in my head,’ so I sort of rain on their parade there…. there’s so many gray issues, be it abortion or gay marriage…. There’s a lot of discussion to be had and that’s why I love ‘The View’ and I wish that there was more focus on that in-between, gray area than [just] smacking a label on somebody. That’s the easy thing to do.”

Elizabeth Hasselbeck speaking with Fancast.com. When asked about former co-host Rosie O’Donnell, Hasselback said she didn’t want to feed the issue by talking about the “dramatic moment,” adding that she felt there was a friendship between them on that season. She also did not want to comment much about comedian Kathy Griffin other than to suggest that Griffin tries to intentionally hurt people’s feelings. Hasselbeck tends to be the voice of conservatives for the daytime talkshow, but does not rail against gay relationships and homosexuality like many others on the right side of politics. “The View” regularly features gay and lesbian guests, hosts, and topics of discussion. Those often frustrating discussions are the highlight of the program, relying more on personal opinions than factual data. (Fancast.com Part 1, Part 2)
