Jane Lynch thanks wife as she wins Emmy [video]

”I love being an actor among actors. I love being part of an ensemble. I rarely identify as anything…. But I am an actor. And just like a lot of you out there, we do it because we’re compelled to. We have no other choice or marketable skills….  I want to thank my lord and creator, Ryan Murphy, for creating this role of a lifetime…. And I love you, my wife. Laura, and my little girl. Hayden. God bless!”

Actress Jane Lynch accepting her Emmy award for her role on the popular musical TV show, ”Glee.” Ryan Murphy is one of the openly gay creators of the show. Chris Colfer, one of her fellow cast members, did not win but was one of many out gay nominees honored at this year’s awards show. Lynch talks openly about being gay but typically shrugs off any special discussion on gay matters. She married Dr. Laura Embry three months ago in Massachusetts. (2010 Emmy Awards via CBS)

”I think Hollywood is more accepting of gay actors, especially character actors. I think it’s still a problem to be an ingenue or love interest and be a known homosexual. We have Melissa Etheridge to thank. We have k.d. lang to thank. We have Ellen Degeneres to thank, and Rosie O’Donnell. All those people, who when it wasn’t the cool thing to do, said, ”I’m gay.” So there, take that.”
