Gay DC Councilman, Jim Graham, attacked by anonymous, anti-abortion robocalls

“Jim Graham paid for an abortion for his male companion’s chief of staff’s girlfriend. It’s no secret, as reported by a local newspaper. Paying to take the life is evil, especially when you weren’t even the parent. Jim Graham is wretched, immoral and doesn’t deserve to represent us. Let’s get a decent human being to fight for our children, not kill them. Graham is sick and we can do better.  Do not vote for Jim Graham.”

Contents of a shocking robocall as recorded and posted to TBD.com. The unidentified call appears to be referencing DC Councilman Jim Graham (D) of Ward 1, and seems to reference an article that ran in the Washington CityPaper a year ago about Graham’s ties to Ted Loza. Graham appeared on the Kojo Namdi Show a few weeks ago with the other candidates (Jeff Smith and Bryan Weaver) who are running for his seat on the Council. He answered a caller’s question about Loza at that time. Both Smith and Weaver have denied any connection to the calls. (TBD.com) (Kojo Namdi)

”It’s scurrilous, inaccurate, and very upsetting.”

DC Councilman Jim Graham responding to TBD.com about recent anonymous, automated phone calls that call him “sick” and allude that he kills children. The DC primary election is to be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. The winner of the Ward 1 race is expected to face Republican Marc Morgan. Both Graham and Morgan are out gay men. All four Ward 1 candidates have stated their strong support for LGBT equality. Graham told WTOP the calls make him feel “a little sad about the process.” (TBD) (WTOP)

”The Graham campaign has contacted MPD, the FBI and the FCC. These calls violate Federal law, in particular the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991.”

Campaign strategist Chuck Thies who posted an update today on the Ward One Yahoo Group. He said he believes the vicious robocalls violate Federal law because they did not identify who was sponsoring the call. On his Twitter feed, Thies calls the creator of the calls “scum and dumb.” (Ward One Group) (Thies on Twitter)
