Hotels say “I Do” to gay couples

With the recent approval of same-sex marriage in New York, hotels from upstate New York to Costa Rica have launched new LGBT wedding and honeymoon specials.

High Peaks Resort, on Mirror Lake in the world-famous village of upstate New York’s Lake Placid, is welcoming same-sex couples to its new wedding facilities. The resort is offering a “Romancing the Peaks” wedding weekend for a minimum of 50 guests. It includes complimentary deluxe accommodations for the couple on their wedding night, a bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries, private menu tasting for as many as four guests, personalized wedding cake and champagne toast for the entire party. In addition, every wedding booked by December 31, 2011 gives the happy couple a complimentary spa day at High Peaks’ full-service Aveda Concept Spa & Salon. The day is valued at $250 and available with a signed agreement. The couple is also welcomed back as the Resort’s guests for a complimentary first anniversary stay, complete with a wedding cake replica in their room. Open to all couples married after January 1, 2011, gay or straight, the package offers four nights stay for the price of three with daily breakfast for two.
