Mavis Staples is coming to The Hamilton

Chicago-born gospel great Mavis Staples got her start in her family band the Staple Singers and has gone on to sing with everyone from Ry Coder, Ray Charles and Los Lobos. But she only won her first Grammy award this past year, for her 2010 set You Are Not Alone, produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. The Hamilton, 600 14th St. NW.
