Craig James: Sports teams backing gay marriage is “Satan working on us”

Former running back for the New England Patriots laments Pats' (and other teams') support for marriage equality

“If I were a current player in that locker room and my livelihood depended on me being quiet or losing it because of my belief system, I worry I wonder. So that’s Satan working on us.

-Former New England Patriots running back and candidate for the U.S. Senate from Texas Craig James, speaking on Tony Perkins’ “Washington Watch” radio program about the decision of several professional sports teams, including the Patriots, to join an amicus brief calling on the Supreme Court to legalize marriage equality. James also said, in comments recorded by the website Right Wing Watch, that the decision by the Patriots and other sports teams to support marriage equality could intimidate players who oppose same-sex marriage and keep them from speaking their minds.

“The only proven relationship that has proven the capability of reproducing humanity is a man and a woman,” James told Perkins. “And I’m in seminary, as you know, right now, and we just studied Genesis heavily, broken down. And I’ve still seen Adam and Eve. I have not seen any other approach to it. And so, folks who have a problem with that concept, they have a problem with God.”
