Poll: What was Donald Trump’s biggest mistake this week?
From hating crying babies to offending veterans, it's been a busy week for Donald Trump
It’s been a busy week for Donald Trump. As Democrats projected a message of unity at their convention and painted Trump as a dangerous demagogue, Clinton’s chances of winning this November rose dramatically. Faced with polls that showed Clinton leading him by an average of 7 points nationally, Trump did the only thing he could: cause as much offense as possible to as many people as possible.
So far this week, the Republican nominee for president has:
- Continued his barrage of attacks against the Khan family, who spoke at the DNC, drawing condemnation from pretty much everyone.
- Joked about a crying baby at a rally, before asking the mother to leave.
- Accepted a Purple Heart from a veteran, saying, “I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier,” which is offensive to pretty much anyone who has fought for their country (Trump famously dodged the draft and called avoiding STDs his “personal Vietnam“).
- Refused to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senator John McCain in their respective election races, something unthinkable in political circles.
- And he also lied about seeing video evidence of a transfer of $400 million from the U.S. to Iran.
The result of all of this? If the election were held today, Clinton’s probability of winning is 93%. Looking to November, her odds are 82%. Great job, The Donald.
