Two men were beaten and subjected to anti-gay slurs in what police believe was a bias-motivated attack in downtown Manhattan last month.
The victims, ages 31 and 37, were walking on Broadway near West 29th Street around 7:30 p.m. on July 31 when two men approached them and made anti-LGBTQ remarks, according to the New York Daily News.
The assailants then repeatedly punched and kicked the victims while shouting homophobic slurs, according to police. The suspects fled south on Broadway.
Both victims suffered minor injuries. The younger man was treated at the scene, while the older victim was taken to NYU Langone Tisch Hospital. The relationship between the two victims remains unclear.
The New York Police Department released images of the suspects, both of whom had dark hair and wore dark T-shirts and light-colored sneakers. One wore black track pants with a white stripe down each side and carried a black bag with two large colored dots, while the other wore blue or gray pants.
No arrests have been made. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the assault as a possible hate crime.

Two brothers in the United Kingdom have been sentenced to life in prison, with minimum terms totaling 25 years, for the 1984 murder of a man they believed was gay amid a series of similar bias-motivated attacks.
On July 10, High Court Judge Mrs Justice Cutts sentenced Anthony Stewart, 60, who delivered the fatal blow to 45-year-old Anthony Littler, to a minimum of 15 years in prison. His brother, Michael Stewart, 57, who acted as a lookout, received a minimum term of 10 years, according to Sky News.
The brothers, who were 18 and 15 at the time of the murder, denied any involvement but were convicted by a London jury on June 1. Prosecutors told jurors that the brothers had made a "hobby" of targeting lone men they believed were gay.
A man has been arrested for allegedly whipping a 12-year-old boy with a belt while hurling anti-gay slurs at him.
Kevin Maxwell, 37, is accused of assaulting the 12-year-old near a playground at the New York City Housing Authority's Baruch Houses on Manhattan's Lower East Side around 12:45 a.m. on April 29.
Police allege that Maxwell, a resident of Brooklyn's Canarsie neighborhood, approached the boy, shouted anti-LGBTQ slurs at him, and then struck him with a belt. Authorities have not said what prompted the alleged attack.
A West Miami man is facing three felony charges for allegedly pulling a gun on, choking, and beating a sexual partner who became upset after a disturbing sexual act during a hookup.
According to West Miami police, officers responded to a call about a man "crying and bleeding in the middle of the roadway" around 6 a.m. on June 28. They arrived in the 6100 block of Southwest 14th Street, where they found the victim, who told them what had happened before the assault, as reported by independent Miami-area TV station WPLG.
