Friday also gives the community a chance to ''Meet the Meat,'' meaning the contestants and judges in the jewel of the anniversary weekend's kinky crown, the Mr. DC Eagle Contest, which takes the primetime Saturday slot around 10:30 p.m. Which year the contest is marking, however, is difficult to calculate.

''They'd pick somebody out of the crowd who would win by acclamation,'' says Lloyd, uncertain how far back this tradition goes. ''There wasn't any sash – just bragging rights.'' A simpler calculation is the prize package, a tidy $1,000.

Everybody is welcome back on Sunday, Nov. 18, for the Mr. DC Eagle victory party, presented by the Highwaymen TNT club, starting at 5 p.m.

But the weekend alone cannot contain all that the Eagle has in store for this 41st anniversary – its 25th at this New York Avenue location. The party doesn't truly wind down till after the ''All Colors Night,'' Wednesday, Nov. 21. This is the party that brings out all the clubs to celebrate with a beer bar, Jell-O shots and camaraderie. In the spirit of fellowship, the clubs have decided that the $2 suggested donations at the door will be pooled for the DC Eagle moving fund.

The DC Eagle is located at 639 New York Ave. NW. For more information, call 202-347-6025 or visit dceagle.com.
