The 5 Best Foods at the MetroCooking DC Show

It was a gluten-free, gutter-cleaning, egg-breaking, alcohol-fueled kind of day

4. Laconiko Olive Oil

You know the old college fraternity saying, “If you’re gonna go olive oil, go Greek.” And Laconiko Olive Oil was by far the best we encountered at the show. Our tastebuds were in no way influenced by the Pierrakos brothers, who live in Virginia and travel several times a year to their family’s “private grove located on the sandy beaches of the Southern Peloponnese,” to press their olives into the most delicious, unblended extra virgin olive oil the world has ever tasted. It was so incredible, we considered drinking it from the bottle. It was so incredible, contributing editor Doug Rule bought a bottle on the spot. It was so incredible, it almost made us stop swooning over the brothers and their swarthy good looks and heart-melting Greek accents. If these guys worked for Gutter Helmet, we’d buy a house so they could stop by and clean our gutters.
