Watch: Chloë Sevigny and Kristen Stewart are lovers in Lizzie Borden thriller “Lizzie”
Biographical thriller portrays a doomed romance that allegedly inspired the infamous murders
The first trailer has been released for Lizzie, a biographical thriller about the infamous Lizzie Borden murders.
Starring Chloë Sevigny as Borden and Kristen Stewart as her maid Bridget Sullivan, it is based on the true story of Borden, who was accused and acquitted of murdering her father and stepmother in Massachusetts in 1892 — a scandal that rocked the small town.
Lizzie will follow an alleged romance between Borden and Sullivan, who was present in the house at the time of the murders, portraying them as doomed lovers whose romance inspired the killings.
To quote the film’s official synopsis: “After a lifetime of loneliness, Lizzie finds a kindred spirit in housemaid Bridget Sullivan and their secret intimacy sparks an unthinkable act.”
Early reviews suggest a mixed to positive reaction from critics, but the trailer alone is worth checking out for the chemistry between Sevigny and Stewart.
