Leather, leather everywhere (and not a drop of mink)…

If you’re part of the leather lifestyle — or even if you just like the look of a man in leather — is this ever the weekend for you! You probably already know about the official events of Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend, the country’s largest after IML in Chicago. These include the Meet the MEAT Tour of Omega, Green Lantern and the DC Eagle Friday night, January 18 (by God, that’s TONIGHT!), and the MAL pageant Sunday afternoon, January 20, when Mr. MAL gets harnessed and sashed; and Sunday night’s Reaction Dance with DJ Warren Gluck, when everyone else gets harnessed — and sashayed! — and leather lust reaches its peak. But before it does, you got other places to get your lust on — both on- and off-line. Green Lantern hosts the DaddyHunt party Saturday night, January 19, when “hot DADDIES” and “eager HUNTERS” meet starting at 9 p.m. Later that night comes the Recon Party at Apex, when “the world’s largest gay fetish profiles website” logs off and goes “Full Fetish.” DJ Lennie III will spin dark, sexy tunes like he does in Provincetown, and there will be performances from sexy gay (and local!) singer Sean Ensign and other fetishists — including, Hearsay’s been told, a bondage show and a demonstration of the 69 things you can do with an iPhone. Don’t you dare think of going without wearing a uniform, leather or otherwise, or showing some skin, from your head to your (by that point, already) chapped hide. Don’t own any leather? Well, The Leather Rack, at 1723 Connecticut Avenue NW, is your best choice for finding the perfect harness, belt, boot or, ahem, toy. (No big plushie giraffes in this store’s toy section — unless you’re into that kind of thing. Not that Hearsay finds anything wrong with that…) The Washington Plaza Hotel is were all the action starts and ends. If you don’t already have a room, tough luck — it’s been sold out for months. But anyone can and everyone does mingle in and around the lobby every night of the weekend. And best of all, there’s no charge! So put on your best vest and stop by. Maybe Hearsay will offer you a smoke-free cigar….
