JR.’s is one of the oldest gay bars in D.C., and a mainstay of 17th Street. They are renowned for their Sunday specials, Monday Night Showtunes, The Birdie Show on Tuesdays and The Feud on Wednesday nights. The bar has also been the main organizer of October’s annual High Heel Race, one of the city’s largest public events. With its vast ceiling, winning, handsome bartenders, and casually relaxed atmosphere, it is the very model of a welcoming neighborhood bar.
